Biparietal Diameter

In this image of a near-term fetus, the view is obtained by locating the transverse view that includes the cavum septum pellucidum, equal hemispheres, and the thalamus. The biparietal diameter is shown measured from the inner edge of the skull to the outer edge of the opposite side of the skull, to eliminate any effect of skull bone thickness.
