Gestational hypertension
- Elevation of previously normal blood pressure to 140/90 in the third trimester, without protein in the urine or other abnormalities
- The earlier the onset, the more likely the hypertension will progress to preeclampsia
- If hypertension remains mild, the outcome is usually the same as a woman who does not have hypertension
- More common in pregnancies of twins or triplets
